DUSD Morning Update from Superintendent Kubes: I wish to thank the Board of Trustees for supporting the district to provide quality training for our teachers and supervision staff that has prepared us to respond to any type of emergency.
I am also thankful for the tireless work from the Merced County Sheriff's Office, their deputies and detectives who have been working around the clock to address these threats. As of this morning they continue to follow leads throughout their investigation.
Our teachers and staff continue to be phenomenal at their job and they continue to provide daily experiences for our students even as we face these concerns.
The Delhi Unified School District takes all threats seriously and we continue to work with county officials with the aim of identifying and apprehending those responsible for impacting our community.
The actions we continue to take as of this morning:
Collaboration with Sheriff's Office for active supervision: Includes plain clothed deputies
High alert approach to supervision:
We have extended hours for our District Security Officers and some Student Supervisors to extend our scope of surveillance
We are checking the facilities at our campuses every morning before the start of school to make sure our campuses are clear
We are prepared to make adjustments to daily operations if warranted (Rainy Day Schedule at Elementary Schools / Limited outdoor activities at DMS / DHS)
We have scheduled formal random searches facilitated by professionals
Please remember that I will be hosting a community communication forum later today, April 19, 2023 at 5:00PM at the Delhi High School theater.

Greetings Delhi Family,
Student and staff safety on our campuses is of paramount concern. On the evening of Saturday April 15, 2023 the district received an anonymous report that brought to our attention a social media post that intimated threats towards our middle school and high school. District staff immediately coordinated with the Merced County Sheriff's Office who, overnight, began the formal investigation.
Due to the nature of the investigation we are not able to provide more specific information, but please know that the investigation includes collaboration with the District, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office and network and social media representatives. If anyone has any information regarding this investigation please contact the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau at 209.385.7445.
To ensure that our campuses remain safe environments conducive to learning, the Sheriff's Department has agreed to have additional surveillance at our district and supervision staff at each site will continue to be vigilant and prepared. We will share any updates as more information becomes available. Until then, please know that our schools are safe and ready for your children’s learning.
If you have any questions you can call your school or the district office, but please understand that information is limited due to the ongoing investigation.

Dear Parent/Guardian:
Delhi USD is pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty starting March 21, 2023. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.
Upon entering a school district building, visitors will be asked to present an ID, such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system. The Raptor system will check to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge. The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. School sites will continue to follow court orders for all student releases and visitations.
The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our district.
Sincerely,
Alma Romo
Director of Student Services
