ELIGIBILITY FOR ATHLETICS AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES; INCLUDING DANCES ARE AS FOLLOWS.
A student must achieve a 2.0 GPA (“C”) average, with no more than one “F” grade each quarter to maintain eligibility. Quarter and Semester grades are used to determine eligibility.
A student may lose eligibility due to one of the following infractions:
Excessive tardiness
Violation of school rules
Administrative recommendation
In the event that a student is suspended from classes twice (2) in the same quarter or is suspended from classes for five (5) consecutive days in a given quarter, the student becomes ineligible in all extra-curricular activities for a period of nine (9) weeks. The ineligibility period would begin upon the student’s return to classes following the most recent suspension. A student may appeal the loss of eligibility and explain special circumstances that prevented him/her from maintaining eligibility. The appeals panel will consist of/and not limited to the athletic director, teacher, counselor, dean of students and principal.
First quarter, first semester, third quarter and second semester grades are used to determine eligibility for athletics.
Each year athletes must receive sports clearance by a physician, or other medical professional in order to play a sport. Students and parents must also complete the athletic participation forms in order to play sports.
Examples of activities affected by eligibility:
Participation in interscholastic athletic teams.
Participation in school club activities.
Participation as a student body or class officer.
Participation in other activities for which a student does not receive a grade.
